Get help from third party, says Muhyiddin

PUTRAJAYA: MCA should seek the assistance of a third party if its leadership finds it too difficult to solve the party crisis, said the Deputy Prime Minister.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin pointed out that the MCA had previously sought help from the Barisan Nasional leadership to resolve past problems, but the “intervention” had first been requested by the party.

“I am of the opinion that it is time that the crisis, which is getting rather complicated, be resolved. We (Barisan) had rendered help before during the leadership of Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad and the late Tun Ghafar Baba,” he told reporters yesterday.

Asked on calls made by some central committee members for Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak to step in, Muhyiddin said the request should be a consensus decision and not just by one or two members.

“It will not help if one or two members say that it is all right for us to step in while 40 others say it is not all right.

“We don’t want a scenario where we make a suggestion or propose a formula but it is only accepted by two members. The central committee has to be on the same page on this matter,” he said.
