IT was almost 6pm as I settled down at a table next to the glass panels, the sun disappearing slowly behind the tall buildings of Bandar Sunway.
Looking down, the deserted Sunway Lagoon was still a charm with the inviting pools and landscaped grounds.
Having a panoramic view like this is surely an added bonus for any restaurant, or Canton Bay in this particular scenario.
Located at the LG Floor of Sunway Pyramid, the outlet that is part of an Indonesian chain prides itself on the crispy Peking Duck.
The key to make this flavourful duck, said chef Loong Chi Seng, is that the bird should be marinated with assorted herbs and spices for one whole day before it is sent into the oven.
It is then bathed with hot oil to get the skin crunchy.
In the revamped menu of Canton Bay, one can find interesting items such as the Baked Escargot with Cheese and Oven Baked Broccoli with Cheese.
Restaurant manager Eddie Seow assured us that the escargots were not canned ones, but came as a whole with shells.
The broccoli, on the other hand, was topped with a thick layer of cream that was flavoured with chicken powder and cheese.
Japanese influence could be found in the Wasabi Bean Curd and Pan Fried Cod Fish, with the fried tofu adorned with fish roe and wasabi-infused mayonnaise a personal favourite.
Crab lovers take note — at RM28.80, one can enjoy two small-sized crabs at this eatery.
We relished the Creamy Milk Baked Crabs that were covered in a golden sauce of pumpkin puree, which was spiced with curry leaves.
J-Card members and Sunway Pyramid Privilege Card holders are entitled to a 15% and 10% discount respectively, while students with ID cards can also enjoy a 15% discount, on ala carte menu only.
Six set menus from RM39.90 to RM139.90 – that comes with a 15% discount for advanced bookings – are also available.
