A SECURITY guard claimed he fired his shotgun because he was “threatened” by three men when he was guarding a bank, reported Harian Metro.
However, police said closed-circuit television footage of the scene showed him firing the shot into the ceiling while sitting near the entrance of the bank in Serdang, and that no one had approached him.
“He accidentally pulled the trigger,” the newspaper quoted a police source as saying, adding that the guard had been working there for only two months.
“That was when the bank supervisor called the security guard company and the Subang Jaya police station,” the source added.
According to the source, the 44-year-old guard, who was hired by the firm after being fired from another job, pulled the trigger around 4pm when most of the bank’s employees were at work.
When questioned, police said the guard claimed three men had told him to quit his job and tried to attack him.
He also claimed they tried to persuade him to work for them, causing him confusion and stress.
“He said one of the men took out an iron rod and tried to attack him, forcing him to defend himself by firing the shot,” said the source.
According to the report, the guard was taken to Serdang Hospital for a psychiatric examination.
> A two-year-old girl was safely returned to her parents after being reported missing for 24 hours, reported Kosmo!.
Siti Nordiana Aung Soe, who was abducted by her parents’ maid, was found safe at the Batu Tiga Komuter station with a restaurant worker.
It is believed that the Indonesian maid had intended to take the child to Dumai, Indonesia, through Malacca for unknown reasons.
Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Zainal Rashid Abu Bakar said the restaurant worker had seen the maid and her young charge at a restaurant in Chow Kit, and suspected something amiss.
According to the report, the maid, when questioned by the worker about Siti Nordiana, confessed that the child was not hers.
ACP Zainal said the worker managed to convince the maid to return the child to her parents, and she agreed.
The worker told the maid they would go together to return the child to her parents in Shah Alam.
“However, she simply left the child with the restaurant worker, who is also Indonesian, at about 6.30pm as they reached the Batu Tiga Komuter train station and disappeared,” ACP Zainal said.
The worker called the police, who took the child to the SS17 police station in Subang Jaya and handed her back to her anxious parents.
Zainal said police were looking for the maid, who did not have a work permit.
