The public will have an opportunity to get closer to popular radio personalities and enjoy a variety of games and entertainment from 10am to 6pm on Sunday at Bulatan Bazarena Stadium in Shah Alam.
Radio Fest 2009, organised by Commercial Radio Malaysia (CRM), is being held for the first time to celebrate the radio industry’s growth in terms of advertising and listenership.
The principal sponsor for the event is Telekom Malaysia.
“Radio Fest 2009 is our special way of thanking the public, advertisers, and associates for their continuous support in making radio a popular medium,” CRM president Datuk Borhanuddin Osman said.
“We have planned a host of other activities for 2010 to stay connected to the public and sustain the upward growth trend,” he added.
Radio deejays and announcers, many of whom have achieved celebrity status, will interact with the public and host many of the activities throughout the day.
The event’s finale will be a concert headlined by popular local acts, including Suki, Bittersweet, Bunkface, Pesawat, Aizad and MC Jazz. The two-hour performance will take place from 4pm to 6pm.
“CRM is committed to radio’s development as we progressively shift into the digital realm with greater interactivity,” said Radio Fest 2009 organising chairman Seelan Paul.
“We hope to make Radio Fest an annual event as it advances the medium as an interactive vehicle.”
CRM expects Radio Fest 2009 to attract up to 5,000 visitors. Admission is free.
