THERE’S practically no reason for me to travel all the way to Bandar Baru Bangi in the southern part of the Klang Valley.
But after finishing my business there one fine afternoon, I decided to drive around the commercial lots in Section 15/1F and found a restaurant which was packed with the lunch crowd.
Then, I turned on my handheld GPS which immediately recognised the outlet as Beriyani Bangi Seksyen 15.
Without hesitation, I made my way to the counter and ordered a plate of Nasi Beriyani Gam ayam goreng kampung (Beriyani rice with free range chicken).
It didn’t take long for the worker on the other side of counter to scoop up the main dish and its accompanying side orders.
For this, the bill came up to RM7.80. A glass of warm water came courtesy of the house.
And when it comes to taste, the Beriyani Gam does live up to its expectation.
The rice is tasty and a bowl of gulai kambing that comes with it complements the house speciality.
With a combination of fried free range chicken, this wholesome meal is something that one would shout about or even bring their entire family for a try.
There are at least 10 makan places in the same area, but none of them are as packed as this Beriyani joint.
Apart from fried chicken, they also serve beef and mutton. Other recommendations are the mee rebus and soto ayam.
To get to this outlet, take the Bangi exit on the PLUS North-South Highway and head straight to Section 15.
