JOHOR BARU: A Year Two pupil has been suffering from severe skin rashes since getting immunisation injections when he was two weeks old.
Mohamad Danial Asyraf Zulkifli has been unable to lead a normal life, as the rashes worsen whenever he goes out to play with his friends and sweats.
His mother, Ungku Chik Ungku Abdullah, 39, said sometimes her son would come home complaining that his friends were teasing him about the rashes.
“This is a terrible thing for us, as he is unable to lead a normal life like other kids,” she said when met at their home in Kg Melayu Pandan here.
Recalling how her son first developed the symptoms, she said she had taken him to Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSA) for his immunisation injections in 2002.
“After the first dose, my son developed rashes but we dismissed it as babies usually have them.
“However, the situation worsened after his second dose two months later. This time there was severe rashes and puss,” she said.
Ungku Chik said the hospital has never given her a proper explanation.
“So far, the rashes have occurred only on his head, legs, body, and feet,” she said, worrying that it could also spread to his face.
She added that Danial was the youngest of her children and the only one with such rashes.
“I hope someone can let us know how to treat this,” she said.
When contacted, HSA director Dr Daud Abdul Rahim said Danial’s condition would be explained in detail after a treatment session scheduled for Nov 24.
According to Dr Daud, the treatment prescribed for Danial so far has been to control the rash from worsening.
“HSA will continue to help Danial find a cure for his ailment,” he said.
