Briefing for Bukit Botak settlers

What say you on the issue below?

THE Bukit Botak Action Committee is calling all original settlers here to attend a briefing on the Bukit Botak project.

The briefing by Selayang MP William Leong will be held at SJK (Chinese) Selayang Baru at 2pm tomorrow.

Bukit Botak Action Committee secretary Fauzan Abdul Kadir said he wanted the original settlers to attend so that the matter could be settled immediately.

“Those who attend will be able to understand the state’s involvement and progress in the development of the land. We also want their cooperation to solve the matter,” said Fauzan, adding that the Gombak Land office and state government will take over the land,

The Bukit Botak settlement issue started in 1985. The former squatters were promised land to build houses. Until today, some are still waiting but outsiders, politicians and 81 people below 18 were given plots of land.

In a report in StarMetro yesterday, Selangor Mentri Besar Tan Sri Khalid Ibrahim had said the Selangor Development Corporation will incur losses totalling RM136.4mil by completing the Bukit Botak project in Selayang.
