KUALA LUMPUR: Police are investigating the Molotov cocktail attack on the home of a prominent lawyer in Bukit Damansara on Wednes-day.
In the 7.20pm incident, unknown people hurled Molotov cocktails into the house of former Bar Council president Manjeet Singh Dhillon.
Manjeet Singh and his family members were away when the incident occurred.
City CID chief Senior Asst Comm (II) Datuk Ku Chin Wah said yesterday that Manjeet Singh’s staff member later lodged a report at the Brickfields police headquarters.
He said police were looking into all possibilities, including if it was linked to an interview that Manjeet Singh had had with private investigator P. Balasubramaniam, who has been “missing” after making two contradictory statutory declarations in connection with the murder of Mongolian Altantuya Shaariibuu.
Balasubramaniam, who suddenly resurfaced for the interview, alleged among others that he had been offered money to retract his first statutory declaration.
Video recordings and excerpts of Balasubramaniam’s interview have been posted on the video-sharing website YouTube and several blogs and online news portal.
The Molotov cocktail attack damaged the garage wall of the lawyer’s house.
Manjeet Singh said the incident could be a warning over his interview with Balasubramaniam.
In a statement, he also stressed that he was not aligned to any political party.
Balasubramaniam had been hired by the then accused Abdul Razak Baginda to monitor Altantuya’s whereabouts in Kuala Lumpur,
Razak, a political analyst, was acquitted of the charge of abetment in the murder after spending 22 months in prison.
