IT was a enjoyable session for participants of the Milo Play More ... Learn More Under-12 badminton coaching clinic at the Sri Garden Kuala Lumpur in Taman Maluri recently.

About 120 children, including 60 from the area, attended the programme initiated by Milo as part of their Play More... Learn More campaign.

The training session was conducted by coach Lee Guan Chong and his panel of six coaches. The focus was on the basics of the game and fitness drill. The participants had a chance to test their skills at Sri Garden’s 10 badminton courts.

Sri Garden Kuala Lumpur sports co-ordinator S. Arunandy said they were surprised with the big turnout for the three-hour coaching clinic organised in conjunction with the school’s open day.

“The children showed enthusiasm. The presence of parents also made the event a meaningful one.”

Enthusiastic lot: The players and officials after the coaching clinic.

“They were also keen to know whether there would be follow-up training sessions,’’ said Arunandy, adding that although Sri Garden Kuala Lumpur was prepared to provide the facilities, there was a lack of coaches.

“If we can get coaches, then we can start a coaching programme. Of course, parents will have to pay a nominal fee,’’ said Arunandy.

Milo Sports marketing manager Ng Ping Loong and Sri Garden principal Khaw Ah Seng presented the players with certificates of participation.
