JAZ Charity, a programme with nine beneficiaries was launched by Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Wee Ka Siong recently.
The programme has nine beneficiaries — a home for senior citizens, an orphanage, a spastic therapy centre, a hospice, three primary schools and two new villages.
Wee commended Jaz on how their CSR initiatives had evolved from a year ago when he launched Z-Education Hope Fund which raised RM1mil for 117 schools.
The launching ceremony kicked off with excitement that is now synonymous with the Jaz brand, as Jaz Charity ambassador Lynn Lim and Napex Marketing Sdn Bhd’s CEO Bryan Lee arrived at the venue in a helicopter, draped in Jaz Beer’s colours and logo.
Napex Marketing Sdn Bhd is the distributor for Jaz Beer.
“Jaz Charity believes that CSR should be more than just cheque donations. It’s so much more meaningful when we actually invest time and effort towards our chosen cause. It has to be total involvement from A-Z,” said Bryan Lee.
“With this A-Z philosophy in mind, the beneficiaries are carefully selected throughout Peninsular Malaysia; from Sungei Petani and Penang in the north to Puchong and Petaling Jaya in the central region and Johor Baru and Kluang down south.
The Jaz Charity logo consists of a flaming matchstick with the motto Hua Shang Yi Fen Xin, Cha Chu Yi Fen Ai - or “Lighting Up the Heart with Love.”
For the benefit of non-Mandarin speakers, Lee explained: “When we strike a match, we get a spark of fire. But use that spark of fire to ignite a pile of wood, you’ll get a bonfire. Then, so many more can enjoy that warmth,” said Lee.
“Having visited these homes and established their needs, our committee will return with our Jaz Charity ambassador and popular TV host, Lynn Lim Pey Yeng to help install required facilities or equipment.
“These could be setting up or installing exercise equipment at the children’s playground, arranging new furniture for classrooms or upgrading a basketball court at a new village.
“Lynn’s presence will bring added cheer to the organisations and inspire others to come forward to help the needy,” added Lee.
