YOUNGSTER Mohd Izzat Mohd Fadzil has earned the chance to be the official match ball carrier for the UEFA Champions League match between Glasgow Rangers and Stuttgart in Glasgow, Scotland, on Nov 24.

Mohd Izzat was adjudged the winner in a competition organised by adidas Malaysia. The contest was part of a global initiative to give youngsters access to the international arena and to rub shoulders with their football heroes.

The judging panel, comprising Selangor FC head coach K. Devan, TV3 Scoreboard host Akhbar Sahari and adidas Malaysia sports marketing senior associate Wan Ozairi, were given the task to evaluate the contestants based on their creative ball skills and showmanship.

From more than 100 hopefuls, 10 participants made it to the finals where their skills were put to the ultimate test to determine the winner.

Adidas South East Asia sports marketing senior manager Mardzlina Ismail said the responses to the contest was overwhelming.

“We auditioned over a hundred boys – and many of them greatly impressed our judges with their fancy footwork and football juggling skills. adidas is very committed to nurturing young football talent, so it is heartening to see so much passion and potential in our Malaysian youth,” said Mardzlina Ismail.

Mohd Izzat will be given the honour of taking the match ball to the referee before the kickoff. He will also get the chance to meet the players as well as watch the match live. Besides the trip, Mohd Izzat also took home RM500 worth of adidas products.
