PUTRAJAYA: The parents of 11-year-old Nurbayti Md Dali, who quit school in Year One to look after her obese mother, can write to the state education director if she wants to resume her schooling.
Education director-general Tan Sri Alimuddin Mohd Dom said the state education department could look into her case.
“We can consider Nurbayti’s case,” he said after announcing the analysis of the UPSR 2009 results at the ministry yesterday.
Nurbayti had said she was keen on going back to school, adding that her father Md Dali Ismail planned to send her to a religious school in Pokok Sena, Tasek Gelugor, next year.
On Wednesday, obese Nurhaniza Ahmad, 35, a housewife, who weighs 170kg, said she was dependent on Nurbayti, her only daughter, to bathe her and cook for the family.
She said it had been two years since she stepped out of the house and had to drag herself around the house.
