FOUR officers from the Penang Education Department have been sent to a Chinese primary school in Seberang Prai to investigate allegations that a headmaster punished staff members by making them stand with their hands raised.
China Press reported that the officers met the headmaster, three assistant school heads and three teachers.
It is learnt that the headmaster meted out the punishment to find out who had complained about him to the department.
State education director Ibrahim Mohamad said investigations had been completed and action would be taken soon.
The department, he said, started investigation after receiving complaints from the teachers.
> China Press reported that a teenager who rode a motorcycle without the knowledge of his mother died after crashing his machine into a tree in Kulai, Johor.
Shen Si Xiong, 16, died of multiple injuries to his body, while his male friend, who was riding pillion, escaped with light injuries.
Si Xiong did not have a licence when the incident took place on Wednesday.
He had borrowed the motorcycle from the friend after they went for a drink together.
It is learnt that Si Xiong lost control of the machine and rammed into the fencing of a house before crashing into a tree.
