Family accepts Seetha’s fate

What say you on the issue below?

GEMENCHEH: The family of the late R. Seetha who died on Wednesday after consuming weedkiller had never intended to politicise her act.

Her father-in-law V. Muniandy said the 33-year-old Seetha had wrote on a piece of paper before she died that she took the weedkiller on her own accord.

“She said that no one should be blamed for her act,” he said when met at his house in Taman Gemencheh Baru near here.

There had been talk earlier that Human Rights Party pro-tem chief P. Uthayakumar, Kapar MP S. Manikavasagam and Kota Alam Shah assemblyman M. Manoharan were planning to take Seetha’s remains to Parliament yesterday before it was brought here.

It is understood that none of the three were present at Muniandy’s house yesterday. Seetha drank the weedkiller last Thursday and also gave it to her four children Darshini, Ushar Rani, Yugendran and Navinam.

However all the children are out of danger but still receiving treatment. Seetha was apparently depressed over the death of her younger brother Surenthiran, 24, who was killed in a police shootout on Nov 8.

Her brother was believed to have been a member of the PCO Boy gang.

Describing Seetha as a doting mother, Muniandy said the family accepted her death as fate.

“What is there to protest? It never occurred to us to do that. I don’t have a clue as to how the politicians are connected to this,” he said.

Seetha’s remains were brought to her father-in-law’s house around 6am yesterday from Klang. Her children were also present but were taken back to Klang after the rituals were completed. More than 100 relatives and well-wishers gathered at Muniandy’s house to pay their last respects to Seetha.

Seetha’s husband M Manimaran when met said he would stay back in Gemencheh for two to three more days.

“After that, I will go back to Klang to see my children. I am so lost without her,” he said in between tears.
