Rotary Club awards journalist Karam Singh

THE Rotary Club of Central Damansara honoured broadcast journalist Karam Singh Walia with the Vocational Award recently.

Karam Singh is best known as an environmental journalist due to his hard hitting investigative reporting.

He has won more than 30 journalism awards locally and internationally from various institutions. Among his most cherished are the WWF Patron’s award and the Green Citizen’s Award from the Selangor Government in 2000.

His most recent journalism award was the Malaysian Press Institute–Petronal Environ-mental Award 2007.

“His courage has inspired a new era of unbiased reporting on issues and happenings,” said Rotary Club of Central Damansara president Siti Subaidah.

The Vocational Award is presented to people who have exemplified outstanding professional achievement while maintaining high ethical standards in their own vocation.
