Neighbours go at it over a dead cat

What say you on the issue below?

A FIGHT between two neighbours in Kajang over a dead cat turned almost deadly after one of them slashed the other with a parang.

This, Harian Metro reported, prompted the other man, who works as a personal bodyguard, to draw his gun and try to shoot his neighbour in self-defence.

In the incident on Oct 29, the 37-year-old bodyguard had scolded his neighbour’s son for accusing his own child of beating a cat to death.

However, the son complained to his own father, who then decided to confront the bodyguard.

According to the report, they soon got into a quarrel. At one point, the neighbour went home to take a parang and slashed the bodyguard on his head and hand.

This forced the bodyguard to whip out his gun and try to shoot at the other in self-defence.

“Neighbours who witnessed the incident managed to calm the men down before the situation deteriorated further,” he said.

The slash victim was sent to Kajang Hospital for treatment, according to OCPD Asst Comm Shakaruddin Che Mood.

> Berita Harian quoted the father of model Kartika Sari Dewi Shukarnor, who has been sentenced to six lashes of the rotan for drinking beer by the Kuantan Syariah High Court, as saying that her relationship with her husband Muhammad Afandi Amir, 38, was under increasing strain due to the delay in carrying out the sentence.

Shukarnor Abdul Mutalib said he observed that there were already signs of a rift between the two.

Shukarnor added that he was concerned that the syariah law or foreign media might be blamed for their eventual separation.

“I can see that the couple is under a lot of pressure from what has taken place these last few months. Because the whipping has been postponed for so long, there are signs that they are no longer as close,” he said.
