ABOUT 100 families of the Aman Suria gated community attended the lantern festival organised by the Residents Association (RA).
It was particularly special this year as it also coincided with Deepavali and Hari Raya.
The festival themed “Lantern Deepa Raya” was mainly for the children, said RA chairman Wendy Chan.
“When the children are happy, we are happy, too.
“This festival, one of the two that the RA always organises, is also very important to bring the residents together and built rapport,” Chan said.
Many of the activities organised that evening was catered for the children, like the art, best dressed and best home-made lantern competitions as well as a clown and magic show.
The night was also about acknowledging the maintainence, cleaning, landscaping and security crew by giving them a token of appreciation as well as awarding one individual from each crew for the most outstanding performance.
Aman Suria has 285 houses with more than 500 people living there.
Among the guests who attended the event was Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua, Damansara Utama assemblyman Dr Cheah Weng Yin, Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Arjunaidi Mohamed, Kelana Jaya Chief Inspector Zakaria Zainal, Petaling Jaya City Council councillor Cynthia Gabriel, Chempaka Buddhist Lodge exco member S.K Tan, Bukit Mayang Emas RA chairman Steven Foo as well as Wanita MCA chief Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun, Theresa Liew and Sunny Lim.
