PETALING JAYA: Gerakan wants the Government to conduct a speedy and thorough investigation into the collapse of the bridge in Kampar which caused the death of an 11-year-old pupil.
Its deputy president, Datuk Chang Ko Youn, said in a statement yesterday that the people should be told of the outcome of the investigation.
“The case involves innocent children. The Government should find out who is responsible for this tragedy,” he said, adding that the victims’ families must be compensated.
Chang, who is also Perak Gerakan chief, extended the party’s condolences to the bereaved family.
In PENANG, the Consumers Association of Penang called on the Government to stop all school and national service training camps with immediate effect.
Its president, S.M. Mohamed Idris, said: “Until proper safety measures are in place, all such camps should be stopped. We have seen enough tragedies in national service camps (too).”
