No EGM, but a seminar for PAS

What say you on the issue below?

KUALA LUMPUR: PAS will hold a political seminar on Nov 7, instead of an extraordinary general meeting, to discuss issues raised by party spiritual adviser Datuk Nik Abdul Aziz Nik Mat.

Party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang said PAS has also closed its doors on suggestions to form a unity government with Umno.

It is learnt that the decisions were made after a heated four-and-half hour pow-wow between the central committee and state commissioners late last night.

Abdul Hadi said the decisions were unanimous and took into consideration all views, adding that the seminar for all PAS grassroots delegates was mooted by Nik Aziz himself.

In his blog tokgurublog.com, Nik Aziz had recently suggested a special muktamar for pro-Umno PAS leaders to seek a fresh mandate.

The seminar will be held at Taman Melewar and more than 1,000 delegates would be invited to discuss current issues in the party and come up with resolutions.

Abdul Hadi said non-governmental organisations and academicians would also be invited, including International Islamic University lecturer Prof Aziz Bari, who recently wrote a controversial article on PAS.

On another matter, Abdul Hadi said the party’s disciplinary committee has been directed to investigate alleged disciplinary issues in Selangor PAS.

However, he declined to say if Selangor PAS commissioner Datuk Hasan Ali would be among the leaders to be called up by the committee.

He added that it was also decided at the meeting to strengthen the party’s ties with Pakatan Rakyat component parties.
