KUALA LUMPUR: The Dewan Rakyat rejected a motion to discuss the bridge collapse in Perak on Monday brought by Dr Lee Boon Chye (PKR-Gopeng), with Deputy Speaker Datuk Ronald Kiandee saying the rule did not allow an issue rejected in chambers to be raised again in the House.
“The speaker had made a decision (in chambers) and the matter was rejected in chambers,” he said, adding that the motion could be included as an issue to be raised at the ongoing debate on the 2010 Supply Bill.
Kiandee also said that action had been taken in the matter of the bridge collapse as Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin had ordered the setting up of a committee to conduct an investigation.
A primary schoolgirl drowned and two others are missing after a suspension bridge across the Kampar River at SK Kuala Dipang collapsed when pupils participating in a 1Malaysia unity camp were crossing it on Monday night.
