YAYASAN Dakwah Islamiah Malaysia (Yadim) came to the defence of celebrity preacher Ustaz Akhil Hayy, who has come under attack for exposing artistes living in sin.
Harian Metro quoted Yadim president Datuk Mohd Nakhaie Ahmad as saying that wayward artistes should not be hostile towards people who were trying to help them back on the righteous path.
Mohd Nakhaie said this in response to artistes who had told Akhil to mind his own business after he exposed the involvement of some artistes in deviant teachings that promoted free sex and booze.
Rock singer Awie was among those who warned Akhil to stop preaching and look in the mirror before judging others. Akhil recently said some artistes were disciples of a “guru ghaib” who propagated deviant teaching.
Mohd Nakhaie said the wayward artistes had become too comfortable leading sinful lives that they did not take advice kindly.
> Utusan Malaysia in its editorial said investigations into the death of Indonesian maid Mantik Hani should be promptly concluded to safeguard relations between Malaysia and Indonesia.
It also called on the Indonesian media to remain calm, as the Malaysian Government had given guarantee that the culprit would be punished.
Stressing that all Malaysians condemned such acts of cruelty, it called on the Home Ministry, the Human Resources Ministry and the Women, Family and Community Development Ministry to hold discourses on ways to check cases involving domestic maids.
The paper said it was high time that the authorities took action, including looking into amending laws, enacting new ones and imposing stern punishment.
