BARISAN Nasional’s 2010 Perak Budget, which sees a deficit of RM23mil, has goodies for everyone in the state.
When it was passed yesterday, none of the Opposition assemblymen was present in the House.
The Opposition representatives had boycotted the debate by staging a walkout as Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abd Kadir presented a simplified version of the Budget.
Later at a press conference, Dr Zambry described it as a people-centric budget and it was to ensure direct assistance to the rakyat.
The 2010 Supplies Enactment has an estimated revenue of RM715.69mil against a total expenditure of RM739.58mil.
Dr Zambry said a State Education Fund would be set up where every child born in Perak next year would be given RM200.
“This incentive, in the form of savings, is for their education in the future,” he said.
The Sikh community, he said, had also been allocated RM500,000 under the non-Islamic affairs allocation while the nine Chinese independent schools in the state would be given RM400,000 each.
