MALAYSIANS can look forward to a treat from Xinjiang, China when the Xinjiang Song and Dance Ensemble comes to town in November.
The show is sponsored by the Hai-O Foundation and jointly presented by the Malaysia-China Friendship Association and Federation for Asian Cultural Promotion.
Founded in 1949, the 40-member Xinjiang Song and Dance Ensemble is one of China’s leading performing arts groups.
They have performed in more than 80 countries, including Australia, New Zealand, Sweden, Norway, France, Holland, Belgium, Germany, Turkme-nistan and Kazakhstan.

Xinjiang region boasts a very colourful and unique culture drawn from the Uygurs, Kazaks, Tartars, Kirgiz, Tajiks and Mongols, all of whom are well-known for their excellence in singing and dancing.
Influenced by the ancient Silk Road civilisations and the exchange and integration of Eastern and Western cultures, the song-and-dance styles have evolved their own unique charm and shine among all such art forms across China.
Together with more than 100 international and local artistes, the ensemble will be here in conjunction with the Federation for Asian Cultural Promotion (FACP) annual conference being hosted in Malaysia for the first time.
After the conference, the ensemble will be performing in Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Ipoh, Malacca and Seremban for charity.
The beneficiaries of the charity performances in Kuala Lumpur are the National Stroke Association of Malaysia (NASAM) and St. Vincent de Paul Society’s Rumah Harapan Kasih Sayang Orphanage.
Part of the proceeds will also be donated to the Pin Hua Primary School in Klang.
The shows in Kuala Lumpur will be held at the KL Live @ Live Centre at 2.30pm and 8.30pm on Nov 7 and 2.30 pm on Nov 8.
