OVER 5,000 people thronged the Pesta Tanglung 1Malaysia held at Desa Setapak on Sunday night.
The festival was organised by the Wangsa Maju MCA division near SMK Section 2 Wangsa Maju, attracting residents and visitors to the area.
Rela officers were seen directing the traffic while many vehicles were parked by the roadside.
Wangsa Maju MCA division chairman and event organiser Datuk Yew Teong Look said he had expected about 5,000 people to attend but more turned up.

“We hope the festival will help inculcate the spirit of family togetherness as well as foster ties among the various races,” said Yew.
The guest of honour was former MCA secretary-general and Tanjung Malim MP Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan.
Ong, in his speech, said the month of mid-autumn in China is the month for harvesting and when the moon is at its fullest.
“This is the time where people would come out to celebrate and watch the moon after a month of being indoors during the Hungry Ghost month,” he said.
The crowd was entertained with performances like the 24 pattern drums and dragon dances by the Meng Kok Lion and Dragon Dance Association in KL.
Later, Ong and Yew took a walk down the street carrying brightly-lit lanterns together with the children and adults.
