THE Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) has been told to take action against traders and motorists who disregard cleanliness and traffic regulations at SS15.
Subang Jaya assemblyman Hannah Yeoh said the stern action was required in order to clean up the area which had the reputation of being the dirtiest in Subang Jaya.
She said the cleanliness of the area, especially the food outlets, were far from satisfactory.
Yeoh added that the traffic conditions in the area were also far from satisfactory.
“We can consider the situation here as the worst and it is time that serious enforcement action is taken against the offenders,’’ Yeoh told a press conference after attending a dialogue with the SS15 traders recently.
Yeoh said dirty eateries must be slapped with compound notices and ordered to close temporarily if they were not up to the mark.
She also urged MPSJ to issue summonses to motorists who parked haphazardly in the area, saying this added to the congestion and the traffic chaos in SS15.
“The authorities must also play a role to ensure that the area is kept clean,’’ she said.
She added that the MPSJ’s enforcement teams should monitor the area closely at all times and not on an ad hoc basis.
Yeoh said the business area, which was popular for its food, was infested by rats and cockcoraches.
Yeoh reminded customers that they should stay away from dirty outlets even if the food served at such areas was good.
“Cleanliness and hygiene condition must be the most important determining facotr for customers before deciding on where to eat,” Yeoh said.
