Team Callaway sizzle on the greens

TEAM Callaway Golf from the United States came out tops in the sixth qualifying round of the World Amateur Inter Team Golf Championship played at the Bukit Jalil Golf and Country Club and Kota Permai Golf and Country Club recently.

Led by scratch player Peter Booth, the team comprising John Degan, Brandon Joe and Chris Koske carded combined rounds of 242, 224, 235 and 237 for a four-day total of 938 to finish as champions in the 35-team field.

In the nett category, played on stableford format, Indonesia’s BPD Acheh, consisting of Zarnawan, Saiful Dahri, Abdul Rafur, and Puteh Usman amassed 464 points to win by 21 points. An all-women team from Thailand, Sabai Sabai, was second on 443 points.

After the sixth qualifying rounds, 30 teams have earned their spots in the grand final to be played at the Tanjong Puteri Golf Resort in Johor on Nov 3-5.

Coathangers from Australia, who were the champions for the last three years, have also earned their place in the grand finals after finishing second in Sabah last April.
