GEORGE TOWN: An MCA central committee member has urged all quarters to stop bickering in the media as it was “hurting the grassroots.”

Tan Cheng Liang, who is also Penang Wanita chief, said the grassroots were people who loved the party and were in support of the unity plan.

“Some members called me up when the plan was announced. They were so happy that they were crying.

“Don’t hurt the party loyalists by bickering in the press and allowing outsiders to belittle and laugh at us,” she said, calling on all quarters to “let bygones be bygones”.

She said the state Wanita was in full support of the leadership and unity plan.

“Everyone has different ideas but we share a common goal, which is to serve the people.

“I am confident that we can all work together and set aside our differences,” she told a press conference when announcing the details of the Penang 5th Line Dance Carnival at the party’s headquarters yesterday.

Tan added that party members must focus on the positive points of their comrades instead of harping on weaknesses.

She urged the leadership to continue fighting for justice to ensure the party’s survival and to win back the people’s support.
