Docs among 122 couples married on auspicious day

What say you on the issue below?

GEORGE TOWN: The first time Dr Tan Jin Keat, 27, saw his future wife, romance was not on his mind – he was only thinking about how he was going to perform on his first day at work.

He was to take over the duties of Dr Ng Sheau Ming, 28, and was told to learn the ropes from her at the respiratory ward of the Penang Hospital.

“It was my first official day as a doctor and I had to take over her cases the next day,” he said.

For Dr Ng, she had already heard nurses talking about a “cute” doctor in the ward.

Mass wedding: Ho carrying Tan after they and the other couples exchanged vows at the Che Hoon Khor Moral Uplifting Society Saturday.

“But I have to say, he is cuter when you get to know him better,” said the petite Dr Ng, who tied the knot with Dr Tan in a mass wedding ceremony together with 42 other couples at the Penang Chinese Town Hall yesterday in conjunction with the Mid-Autumn Festival.

Meanwhile, 80 other couples exchanged vows at the Che Hoon Khor Moral Uplifting Society in Macalister Road.

Completely in sync with the auspicious date were Kent Ho Meng Kheng, 27, and his bride Joanne Tan Ing Ju, 25, who were dressed in bright red traditional costumes.

“We met about four years ago at a barbecue and I really liked Ho’s cooking. We fell in love over a piece of sotong (squid)!” Tan joked, adding that they chose to wear traditional outfits as they were beautiful and unique.
