Chin, Anifah head sultan's honours list

KUANTAN: Thirteen people, including two federal ministers, will receive the title "Datuk Seri" while 129 others will get their datukships in conjunction with the Sultan of Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah's 79th birthday today.

Energy, Green Technology and Water Minister Datuk Peter Chin Fah Kui and Foreign Affairs Minister Datuk Anifah Aman will be conferred the Seri Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (SSAP) which carries the title "Datuk Seri".

Seven people will receive the Sri Indera Mahkota Pahang (SIMP), while 17 others will be awarded the Darjah Sultan Ahmad Shah Pahang (DSAP) and 105 the Darjah Indera Mahkota Pahang (DIMP).

All three awards carry the title "Datuk".


Among the "popular" people who will receive the datukship are body-builder and former Mr Asia Abdul Malek Md Noor, Karyawan president Freddie Fernandez and actor Baharuddin Omar who is also fondly known as "Anjang Aki".

Other SSAP recipients are Ranhill Berhad chairman Tan Sri Sallehuddin Mohamad; Transport Ministry secretary-general Datuk Zakaria Bahari; Defence Ministry secretary-general Datuk Abu Bakar Abdullah; Customs director-general Datuk Ibrahim Jaapar; Permodalan Nasional Berhad president and group chief executive Tan Sri Hamad Kama Piah and Royal Malaysian Air Force chief General Datuk Rodzali Daud.

Also receiving the SSAP are FA of Malaysia (FAM) deputy president Datuk Redzuan Sheikh Ahmad; prominent lawyer Datuk Muhammad Shafee Abdullah; Public Bank executive director Datuk Lee Kong Lam; Limkokwing University founder Tan Sri Lim Kok Wing and Putrana Oil Refinery Sdn Bhd executive chairman Mohammad Saraei Faridoun.

The SIMP recipients are Cik Puan Bendahara Pahang Datuk Habibah Yusoff; Cik Puan Tengah Datin Seri Rohaya Abd Rahim; Information, Communications, Arts and Culture Ministry secretary-general Datuk Kamaruddin Siaraf; Science, Technology and Innovation Ministry secretary-general Datin Madinah Mohamad; Agriculture Department director-general Roseley Khalid; Heitech Padu Bhd executive chairman Datuk Mohd Hilmey Mohd Taib and Royal Malaysian Navy deputy chief Rear Admiral Datuk Wira Mohammed Noordin Ali.

Heading the DSAP list is the Sultan's eldest grand daughter, Tengku Nurul Kamalia Tengku Kamil Ismail.

Other DSAP recipients are Deputy Higher Education Minister Datuk Saifuddin Abdullah; High Court Judge Datuk Suraya Othman; Institute of Strategic and International Studies director-general Dr Mahani Zainal Abidin; Prisons Department director-general Datuk Zulkifli Omar; Veterinary Services Department deputy director-general (development) Dr Ibrahim Che Embong.

Others include Minerals and Geoscience Department deputy director-general Datuk Mazbar Abu Bakar; Pahang Education director Datuk Abdul Aziz Abdul Latiff; 1st Division Army chief Major General Datuk Mazelan Kasap; Police CID deputy director Datuk Hadi Ho Abdullah; FAM secretary-general Datuk Azzuddin Ahmad and Home Minister's political secretary Datuk Ab Hamid Mohd Nazahar.

Also on the list are Prime Minister's Department directorate director Mohd Nazri Abd Karim; Professor Dr Kamaruzaman Wan Su of International Islamic University; Attorney-General's Chambers prosecution head Tun Abd Majid Hamzah; senior police officer retiree Datuk Harun Md Idris and Haraid Link, who is the managing partner of B. Grimm and Co in Bangkok.

Among the DIMP recipients are state assemblymen -- Abdul Rahman Mohammad (Padang Tengku); Chuah Boon Seong (Mentakab); Capt (Rtd) Mohd Johari Hussain (Tioman) and Zaharuddin Abu Kassim (Kerdau). Also in the DIMP list are Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission Pahang director Sutinah Sutan and The Star news editor Lourdes Joseph Charles.


The sultan will also award the Setia Ahmad Shah Pahang to 22 individuals; Setia Mahkota Pahang (79); Ahli Ahmad Shah Pahang (69); Ahli Mahkota Pahang (143); Pingat Khidmat Cemerlang (134); Pingat Kelakuan Terpuji (120) and Pingat Jasa Kebaktian (435).
