Challenge status quo, workers told

PUTRAJAYA: Civil servants need to always challenge the status quo and relook into existing procedures and methods as a way of improving services to the people, said the Chief Secretary to the Government, Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan.

Mohd Sidek said civil servants should not get complacent with the existing standard of services provided to the people as there would always be room for further improvement that could help the public in their dealing with the various agencies.

He said the Government could only start to work towards its objective of having “zero complaint” from the people if civil servants had such an attitude.

“Re-looking at existing procedures, methods and regulations is necessary in order to make the shift from a bureaucracy that creates difficulties for our clients to one which is aimed at making it easy for them.

“So I call on you all to always challenge the status quo and work consistently towards raising the standard of public service,” he said during the closing ceremony of the Public Com­plaints Management Se­minar here yesterday.
