Woman senses something amiss when told she had won a car

What say you on the issue below?

SENSING something amiss, a would-be scam victim ran away from what she suspected was a scam similar to the scratch-and-win.

At around 2pm on Oct 16, when Lim Su Pei, 27, and her daughter were shopping in Taman Equine, she was approached by a woman in her 20s who asked her to pick and open a voucher.

“When I opened the voucher, it was a car and the girl screamed in excitement and said that this was a big prize and nobody had got this far.

“She invited me to see her superior who was in the car park to confirm the win. I was invited to sit in the car but I refused and ran away,” she said at a press conference.

She hopes that by highlighting this matter, she can alert the public to be careful as it might be a trap.

According to Subang Jaya Municipal Council (MPSJ) councillor Tai Cheng Heng, there was a similar case last year in Puchong Puteri, near Citibank.

“However, that lady was not so fortunate. She was taken to Kuchai Lama and asked to buy low-quality products for about RM10,000.

“She came to see me and I advised her to go to the consumer court. She managed to get back part of her money.

“There is nothing free in this world. They exploit human weaknesses and their desire for free things as a ‘trap’,” said.
