THE singer of rock band Wings lashed out at a religious teacher for accusing artistes of deviant behaviour.
“Watch your mouth and look at yourself before accusing others,” Awie told ustaz Akhil Hayy in an interview with Harian Metro.
The 42-year-old local rock legend, whose real name is Ahmad Azhar Othman, warned the ustaz not to talk about the entertainment industry or link the group to any deviant teachings.
He added that Akhil was not qualified to speak on such things. “Don’t think entertainment ‘artistes’ do not know about living and the hereafter,” Awie said.
He was reacting to Akhil’s comments that several entertainers were using their fame to influence other artistes into committing sinful acts and deviating from Islamic teachings.
Akhil also allegedly said that several artistes were embracing deviant teachings, led by a “guru” who was difficult to identify.
> His age did not prevent a 91-year-old man from hitting a 25-year-old with a parang because he thought the younger man had stolen something valuable from him.
Pahang state CID spokesman Asst Supt Noor Asyikin Shamsuri told Harian Metro that the aged suspect, named Josilla, went to the younger man’s house in Bukit Serok, Rompin, on a motorcycle as the victim and his family were about to go to a nearby oil palm plantation.
Noor Asyikin said the suspect accused the victim, took out a parang and started to slash him. However, the victim’s wife managed to escape with their children.
“The suspect afterwards left the scene and hid. The bleeding victim was taken to the Bandar Tun Razak health clinic and received several stitches on his head,” she said.
The victim later lodged a report at the Bandar Tun Razak police station.
