SEPANG: Indonesian President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono on Wednesday began his two-day first official visit to Malaysia since he took his oath of office for the second term in October.
The plane carrying Susilo and his wife Ani Yudhoyono arrived at the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) here at 1.35pm.
Upon his appointment as president for a second term on Oct 20, Susilo had said that Malaysia was the first country he would visit.
The Indonesian leader was greeted by Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman and Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ahmad Shabery Cheek.
He was then driven to Parliament building to receive an official welcome before having an audience with the Yang Di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin at Istana Negara in Kuala Lumpur.
He is scheduled to receive a courtesy call from Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak in Kuala Lumpur before attending a dinner function at Sri Satria in Putrajaya.
On Thursday, Susilo and Najib will meet in Putrajaya to discuss relevant issues like Indonesian migrant workers and maritime boundaries, as well as international issues such as food security, energy and anti-terrorism.
After the meeting, the two will hold a joint press conference.
Susilo is expected to leave for Singapore from KLIA at 2pm on Thursday.
