Man saves granddaughter after mum throws her into well

What say you on the issue below?

A 26-year-old “mentally disturbed” woman threw her two-month-old baby down a well in Kuala Terengganu on Tuesday.

Luckily for the infant, her grandfather Raja Ibrahim Raja Ali managed to dive into the well in the nick of time and pull her to safety.

Raja Ibrahim, 63, who works as a security supervisor, told Harian Metro that it was fortunate that the water level in the well was high after heavy rains.

“If I had waited for help, she would have died,” said Raja Ibrahim, who lives in Pengkalan Arang, Batu Enam.

He said he had been sleeping when his wife woke him up to tell him what had happened. The woman, he said, was his adopted daughter and had been suffering from post-natal depression.

She claimed to have been hearing voices in her head after giving birth to Nur Isfar recently.

Raja Ibrahim took the baby for treatment at the Sultanah Nur Zahirah hospital after lodging a police report.

“Thankfully, Nur Isfar’s X-rays showed that she did not sustain any injuries,” he said.

> A family of 10 in Jalan Teluk Gadong Kecil, Klang, has blamed insecticide used in a 0.3ha commercial orchid farm next door for their various skin ailments and health complaints, such as shortness of breath, nausea and dizziness over the past two years.

Asrul Kamal Md Jasib, 33, told Berita Harian that he had black scars and needed expensive medical treatment.

“Everbody in our family has the same problem. We are always scratching ourselves because our skin feels so itchy,” he said.

Despite having lodged complaints with the Klang Municipal Council, the district agricultural department and the Public Complaints Bureau, Asrul Kamal said the owner of the commercial farm had refused to move.
