TANGKAK: Ledang police have crippled two teenage gangs suspected of involvement in motorcycle thefts and burglaries here.
The 14, aged between 14 and 17 and mostly still schooling, were arrested at their homes in and around Sungai Mati and Tangkak on Oct 14 and 18.
Police seized five motorcycles and several motorcycle parts.
Police also detained a 44-year-old “fence” and recovered several cellular handsets and gold items.
The “fence” dealt with one of the gangs.
Several other cases were also reported in the Ledang district. Among them were the:
> ARREST of a 30-year-old man from Negri Sembilan after a 10km car chase. Police found a cutter and house break-in tools in his car which was reported stolen in Rembau last April; and
> DETENTION of three men for drug possession at two separate locations. The first suspect, a 48-year-old man, was detained near Bukit Kangkar on Nov 6. Inves-tigations led to the seizure of 16.18gm of heroin.
The other two men, aged 23 and 26, were picked up at a children’s playground in Taman Tangkak Jaya on Oct 28. Police seized 16.7gm of heroin from them.
All three men are expected to be charged under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act which carries the death penalty.
