MNC Wireless Bhd has launched a one-of-a-kind cloud music service called WOWLOUD, bringing together the biggest collection of music from the hard-to-find old favourites to the new releases of various genres and languages.

The company has entered into licensing agreements with Universal Music, Warner Music, Sony Music Entertainment and One Stop Music on the use of record companies’ music.

With this, users can expect a wide range of songs on WOWLOUD through international and Asian catalogues and more. The database is continually growing and new songs are added each week.

MNC chief executive officer Chung Jaan Hao said the Internet has changed the way people consume music and the company wants WOWLOUD users to access music from around the world.

The support: The WOWLOUD launch party at the Publika Square received a lot of attention.

“Music is the most searched item on the Internet and it’s a part of life. That’s why we are doing this,” he said during the launch at the Black Box at Solaris Dutamas recently.

WOWLOUD is currently available in two options — free and premium.

The former is a free, advertising-supported plan that gives users instant access to the full collection of songs for up to 20 hours a month.

To enjoy this, users have to receive WOWLOUD Free invitation which can be requested via wowloud.com and later made available via selected sponsorship partners’ websites.

Users of the Premium plan can immediately activate their account without waiting for an invitation. Subscribers also enjoy unlimited access to an enhanced sound quality and uninterrupted by advertisements.

To celebrate the launch, MNC is offering an introductory promotional prize of RM9.90 per month for WOWLOUD Premium subscription.

The promotional offers will be available for a limited period only.

“We believe that subscription streaming services are going to be the future of how music is consumed and WOWLOUD has been carefully crafted to provide users with the best possible music experience.

“All a user needs is a computer with Internet connection and they can begin a journey of music discovery that allows them to find songs which they like but may have overlooked through other media,” said Chung.

Chung added that WOWLOUD was currently accessible to users from their personal computers but the mobile version of WOWLOUD was already in the pipeline.

“The company is working on a Premium++ plan which will make WOWLOUD available to users on smartphone devices ranging from iPhone and Android phones to subsequently tablet devices,” he said.

The launch was followed by a party which was held at the Publika Square. Emceed by Hitz Party Show radio DJ Jin while local musicians performed for the night.

They were Az Samad, Soo Wincci, Aliff Satar, Awi Rafael, Wana, Cindy Chen, Aura 21, IQA, Chomel Fana, Once Upon A Time There Was A Sausage Named Bob, Ahmad Ahmad and Gabba Gabba.
