Priority on national language

THE national language should be used by all government agencies and departments in their dealings and during official functions in the state, said Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Dr Zambry Abdul Kadir.

“Local authorities should also ensure that signage and advertisements give priority to the use of Bahasa Malaysia.

“Other relevant agencies, including financial institutions and insurance companies, are also encouraged to use Bahasa Malaysia in their signage and in their official documents and forms,” he said in his speech during the state-level launch of the National Language Month.

Dr Zambry’s speech was read by state Education and Higher Learning Committee chairman Datuk Mohammad Zahir Abdul Khalid at SM Poi Lam (Suwa) in Ipoh on Monday.
