THE new Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors 3S service centres on the island and Seberang Prai will help to increase the sales of its cars in Penang by 100% in 2012.
Its managing director Dennis Ho said besides the new service centres in Penang, there were also new Hyundai models in the pipeline which would help to boost sales.
Other than the newly opened 3S service centre on Jalan Sungai Pinang, he said another 3S service centre will be ready for operations on Jalan Baru, Seberang Prai in December 2011.
He was speaking to reporters after the launch of Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors 3S centre on Jalan Sungai Pinang, Penang, by Hyundai Motor Company Asia & Pacific Reigional Headquarters head Kim Hoo-Kuen.
Ho said the Hyundai sales in Penang were expected to register 2,000 cars for 2012, an increase from a projected sale of 1,000 units in 2011.
“The new 3S service centre in Penang has a 31,000sq ft floor area, equipped with the latest after sales service equipment.
“It serves as the hub for Hyundai service dealers in the northern region. The centre has modern features and facilities that provide greater comfort and conveniences such as free internet access and a 24-hour key drop service.
“With 11 service bays, the centre is capable of providing workshop services for 30 to 40 customers per day,” he added.
The northern region contributes 10% to 15% of Hyundai’s annual sales revenue in the country, while the Klang Valley generates about 60%.
Hyundai-Sime Darby Motors aims to sell 12,000 cars in Malaysia next year, compared with over 10,000 in 2011.
Ho said there were plans to establish 3S centres in Ipoh, Taiping, Batu Pahat, Klang Valley, and Selangor, adding that the cost of setting up a 3S centre ranged from RM1.5mil to RM2mil, depending on the size.
