GUESTS and members of the press were treated to a sumptuous Culinary Hop hosted by The Intermark Retail Podium in conjunction with its first anniversary celebrations.

Led by its management team, guests ‘hopped’ from restaurant to restaurant, sampling more than 30 dishes and miniature palate teasers from different cultures around the world including Japan, India, France, America and Italy.

Guests were first taken to Kin no Mizu, a fine-dining Japanese restaurant located at Level 2 which serves creative and fresh fusion flavours.

Tasteful: Kin no Mizu’s sauteed jumbo prawn and scallop with truffle sauce.

Set in a perfect ambience of modernity, the dishes served include Sauteed Jumbo Prawns and Scallops with Truffle Sauce, Mizu Maki, Tenderly Braised Ox Cheek Meat with special Blended Sauce, Pan-fried Foie Gras and White Radish.

The dishes were masterfully prepared by Chef Brhma Dava Sankaran, who has more than 24 years of experience in the hospitality industry. His career began in 1985 at Nadaman, Shangri-la and honed his skills in one of Tokyo’s finest Japanese restaurant in 2001.

At Royal India, Chef Rakesh Prasad prepared North Indian cuisine. The mango lassi is a must- try and the carrot ‘halwa’ is a superb dessert one should not miss. Among other exciting dishes served were Mixed Tandoori Platter, Dun Briyani Mutton, Murgh Makhanwala (butter chicken), Palak Paneer and Mixed Bread Basket.

Also located at level 2, the restaurant has an exquisite earthy interior architecture and a balance of contemporary modernity and traditional Indian artistry.

It can house up to 100 guests comfortably and also offers private dining facilities that can accommodate up to 10 guests.

Guests were then taken to Austin Chase Coffee, known for its premium five-star coffee which is brewed from the freshest and finest hand roasted coffee beans.

Coffee lovers can take a break during work or shopping and chill out here. It is also a great place to host business meetings.

Try the Caramel Macchiato in cold blended ice and its signature Black Chocolate, which melts almost immediately on your tongue.

Meanwhile, at T42, which is located at the ground floor, Chef Gray Tan introduced his specialities – Red Velvet Cake, Rose Macaroon with Raspberry Lychee Cream, Mont Blanc and Macademia Cheese Cake.

Tan carries with him seven years of culinary experience, specialising in pastries.

Hanare, another Japanese restaurant features authentic seasonal Japanese cuisine with fresh ingredients and was voted one of Asia’s Finest restaurants and included in The Miele Guide 2011/2012, which recognises and celebrates Asia’s most talented chefs.

Hanare’s chef, Kenny San, has more than 17 years of experience in Japanese cuisine.

Guests were treated to a delightful spread of Sensai, Sashimi, Yakimono, Agemono and Tori Don Nabe.

If you are in need of Italian flavours, walk in to Porto Romano. Known for its touch of Mediterranean delicacies, the outlet provides a comfortable atmosphere to enjoy its signature pizzas, pasta and salads.

The ravioli with lobster meat is a must-try, not forgetting the Pasta Nera Con Calamari (squid ink pasta), Crema Catalana, Petto Di Pollo Ripieno and Grilled Vegetables.

Ahmad Huraira is the restaurant’s chef who holds more than 17 years of experience, specialising in dine dining. The restaurant is located at the concourse level of The Intermark.

Food lovers were later ushered to Intermark’s International Food Hall to witness a cheque presentation ceremony to Rumah Anak-anak Yatim Hulu Kelang Selangor, Asrama Darul Falah and St Mary’s Nursing Home.

About 80 children and old folks were treated to a buffet spread sponsored by the various outlets/tenants of Intermark including Doubletree by Hilton, Kuala Lumpur.

The three homes received cheques worth RM2,000 each, hampers and gifts presented by Intermark’s director Patrick Liau.
