IPOH is said to be one of the city that offers the best street food in the country and to some foodies, they can vouch that the city has one of the best char kueh teow (fried flat rice noodles).
If you are craving the dish at night, you should head on over to the MBI Terrace along Persiaran Tugu, which is said to serve the best char kueh teow in town.
There are a few stalls in the area that offer the Malay version, which is wetter than the Chinese-style.
As for which stall dishes the best char kueh teow, it is up to individual tastebuds.
Stalls at the terrace, which open daily from 6pm to midnight, also serve other types of food such as nasi ayam, satay, various types of mee and yong tau foo.
The food is also reasonably priced.
Visitors are, however, forewarned that the terrace may be crowded at certain times especially during weekends and as such, the service provided by the stall operators may not be up to expectation.
The stalls have been around since 2003, with the hawkers originally operating from pick-up trucks.
The Ipoh City Council had in November last year embarked on a RM812,700 project to upgrade the terrace. The work was completed in April this year.
With the upgrade, diners can enjoy their food in a cleaner and safer environment.
For the safety of patrons, the council had also turned the road into a one-way street with traffic coming from Jalan Dato Seri Ahmad Said.
The seating area is also away from traffic flow, thus diners will no longer risk being knocked down by passing vehicles.
The council is planning to plant more trees and improve the lighting in the area.
There are about 72 parking lots available for customers’ convenience.
If the alfresco terrace does not go down well with you, customers can choose to dine in other restaurants in the area.
The restaurants serve a variety of dishes
