RESIDENTS of Block E PPR Baru Air Panas, Kuala Lumpur are irked by the constant lifts breakdown, a problem which has yet to be solved for months.
There are 250 units in the block housing some 1,800 people. The residents, especially senior citizens and families, rely on the three lifts to go about their daily lives.
The regular breakdowns have left many grounded in their homes or forced to climb the stairs.
Mohanasundram Thangaraju, who has been living in the PPR for four years, said the technician tasked to do the job has failed to solve the problem.
He said after the technician fixed the lift, it would break down again soon after.
“The problem never gets fixed because they never do a good job.
“Now it is the Deepavali period and people are carrying many things up and down, so this is a major inconvenience for us,” he said.
For Abdul Rahman Kamaruddin, the problem has been going on for months.
He said despite complaints being made to Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL), the problem was never resolved.
“DBKL have said they are fed up with this problem and seem quite reluctant to sort it out.
“The issue is the technician never carries out a good job, which is why the lift is always down. They should at least try to monitor and check the situation after a repair job is carried out to ensure the lifts are running smoothly.
“To me it just poor management by DBKL because they are not interested, but we do understand they can only do so much. However, they need to step up their game,” he said.
Meanwhile, when DBKL’s repair line was contacted, they acknowledged that a call and report was made about the breakdown. They said the lift company will be notified of the repair works needed.
