Sponsors chip in for green run

PARTICIPANTS of this weekend’s PJ Half Marathon at the Petaling Jaya Stadium in Kelana Jaya on Sunday, can look forward to more gifts in their goodie bags as well as more attractive lucky draw prizes as there will be plenty lined up for them to enjoy.

Six companies have joined in to support the event by sponsoring gifts as well as prizes for the PJ Half Marathon lucky draw.

Royale Chulan Kuala Lumpur will be sponsoring six prizes of two-day, one-night stays at the hotel for lucky participants worth more than RM5,000 in total.

Supporting the event for the first time, its assistant public relations manager Rizal Johan Van Geyzel said they decided to support the event because it promoted environmental causes.

“We try to support all these events and we have had a good relationship with The Star. As long as it’s for a notable cause, we would like to help in any way we can,” he said.

Health supplement company Bio-Life is also lending support by sponsoring hampers worth about RM5,000 in total.

Bio-Life Marketing Sdn Bhd brand manager Chua I-Lin said as the core for their company was to educate people about their health, the event was a great opportunity for them to reach their customers.

“The products that we are sponsoring in the hampers are bone and joint health and endurance supplements which can help marathon runners. Hopefully, with the event, we can increase awareness and educate people about their health,” she said.

Participants also stand a chance to win products from Crabtree and Evelyn which specialises in fine soaps, luxurious toiletries, fine foods and gifts that effuses the essence of English style.

For the marathon, Crabtree and Evelyn will be contributing hampers containing bath items worth RM5,000 in total.

“We are also pretty well known for our hampers so participants can look forward to winning and trying our products,” said Crabtree and Evelyn marketing communications manager Teoh May May.

Sin Kwang Optical (M) Sdn Bhd will also be sponsoring Esprit sports range eyewear as lucky draw prizes worth RM5,000 in total.

Sin Kwang group sales manager Calvin Lim said they were happy to be involved PJ Half marathon as it promoted sports and healthy lifestyle.

“We have specially chosen the sports range eyewear so participants can look forward to winning them,” he said.

Participants can also look forward to the Lotte Xylitol Dental Health Chewing Gum in their goodie bags as Lotte will be sponsoring RM6,000 worth of chewing gum.

Lotte marketing and sales administrative manager Mandy How said that they felt that it was relevant to participate to support the event as it promoted and encourages a healthy lifestyle.

“We thought it is relevant as our chewing gum is also the first dental health chewing gum which is proven to prevent tooth decay and fight cavity.

“Hopefully, participants will enjoy our products,” she said.

In line with their tagline “Healthy Good Taste”, Sushi Kin Sdn Bhd is sponsoring RM5,000 worth of Sushi King RM10 vouchers for the event.

This marks their first sponsorship for a sports event. Sushi Kin Sdn Bhd executive director Law Hwee Ching hopes that with the vouchers more people would get to know Sushi King and its products.

Their new tagline was launched on its 10th year anniversary in 2005, to reflect the emphasis on providing healthy food to customers.
