New man to helm FMM

What say you on the issue below?

FEDERATION of Malaysian Manufacturers (FMM) Penang branch has elected Khoo Cheok Sin as its new chairman for the next one-year term.

Khoo, 70, who is Perusahaan Sindi Sdn Bhd chairman, was the FMM vice-chairman for several terms.

He replaced Datuk O.K. Lee who was the chairman since 1990. Lee will continue to serve as an adviser.

Khoo was elected the chairman at the FMM’s annual general meeting recently. Hun Kheng Kuan, Dr Ooi Eng Hock, S. Pitchaiappan and Datuk Siah Kok Poay were elected as the vice-chairmen.

Mohamed Thajudin was elected as FMM’s Human Resource Committee chairman and K. Lingesparan his deputy while Dr Ooi Eng Hock was elected as Infrastructure and Utilities Committee chairman and Hun Keng Kuan his deputy.

Other elected members included Membership, Social and Welfare Committee chairman Jimmy Ong Chin Keng and his deputy Khow Sick Chin, Small and Medium Industries Committee chairman J. Philip Vincent and his deputy Lee Tiong Li, and Transport, Customs and Government Liaison Committee chairman See Chee Tat and his deputy Geh Cheng Hoe.

Khoo said the new committee would be the voice of the manufacturing industries in Penang, addding that they were committed to working with the relevant government agencies in helping to facilitate the process of doing business competitively.
