TO SET itself apart from competitors, HSC Omega Fish Oil has 744mg of EPA and DHA.
EPA and DHA, which stands for eicosapentaenoic acid and docosahexaenoic acid, are essential fatty acids.
HSC Medical Centre chairman and executive director Dr YC Lim said Omega 3 was not produced by fish but the sea algae that they consumed. The cycle continued as the bigger fish eat the smaller ones.
Since big fishes have a lot more metal in their bodies, Dr Lim said harmful substances were removed through molecular-distilleration process.
“We did a clinical trial for two years at our centre before putting the product into the market in February. The response has been very good.
“If someone takes one capsule of our Omega 3, it is equivalent to three commercial ones because they only have 300mg of EPA and DHA.
“The results will naturally be different for every individual but we have seen a lot of improvement in terms of cholesterol reduction, which is important to reduce cardiovascular diseases,” he said.
Dr Lim added that Omega 3 was a health supplement that people in their 20s and 30s could consume as a preventive measure for heart diseases.
“A lot of people in advance countries are facing heart diseases because of their lifestyle and food consumption, so one way to bring it down is through Omega 3,” he said.
Meanwhile Dr Lim explained about their Dr’s Choice sugar-free chocolate with fenugreek.
The healthy low-calory and high-fibre drink is another product which is not only suitable for people with diabetes but also those who are health-conscious.
“Fenugreek is able to create a protective layer inside the stomach, which is good for those who have gastric and it regulates your glucose level.
“It is a diet chocolate drink found in most supermarkets which has 20% of fibre, equivalent to those with oats,” he said.
