DEEPAVALI came early for the residents of PPR Kg Muhibbah in Bukit Jalil when Bandar Tun Razak PPP organised a pre-Deepavali party for them recently.
There were smiles and laughter all around when PPP members presented cash contribution of RM100 each to about 300 poor families.
Bandar Tun Razak PPP head Datuk A. Chandrakumanan said the money would come in handy for the families to buy items for the Deepavali celebration.
“The cash will help to ease their burden and we try to do what we can to help them in every little way we can,’’ Chandrakumanan said.
Chandrakumanan, who is also Federal Territories PPP chief, said the poverty rate was higher among families staying in PPR housing.
“There are a lot of problems here and we are trying to compile data on poor families living in PPR flats in all the constituencies in Kuala Lumpur, and find ways to help them,” he said.
PPP president Datuk Seri M. Kayveas launched the event.
