SHOPPERS can look forward to new shops in The Mines in 2012.

By January, the new tenants include Celebrity Fitness, Voir Gallery, Daiso, the Loaf and Chatime.

CapitaMalls Malaysia Reit Management Sdn Bhd asset management head Yong Kei Seng said the mall had been upgraded since it was acquired by CapitaMalls in 2007.

“In 2008 and 2009, The Mines underwent a major asset enhancement exercise which involves the construction of three-storey extension floors and link bridges to improve accessibility.

“We rebranded the mall by focusing on the themes — fun, food, fashion and future to create a new shopping experience for shoppers,” he said at a media appreciation dinner held at Le Meridien, Kuala Lumpur recently.

The dress code for the dinner was “stylish and chic in red or white”.

Award-winning harmonica ensemble Mastro started the night on a high note with cheery tunes and emcee Liang kept the guest chuckling.

Malaysian songbird Jaclyn Victor showcased her vocal prowess with Adele’s Someone Like You and Rolling in the Deep.

As guests tucked into dinner, Jazzanova provided live entertainment for the night.

There were also lucky draw segments with prizes like quilt sets and electronic gadgets.
