Two Reds fans go ga-ga over Anfield trip

STANDARD Chartered Bank Malaysia Berhad (Standard Chartered) announced the winners for its Standard Chartered Liverpool FC MasterCard Debit Card contest recently.

The contest was launched during the football team’s first ever tour to Kuala Lumpur in July this year which created a lot of buzz among local footies.

The grand prize winners, Muneswaran Jayabalan, 26, and Puvaneswaran Maniraj, 27, went on a five-day, four-night trip to watch the play-off between Liverpool FC and Manchester City FC live on the hallowed home grounds of Anfield on Nov 27.

Muneswaran who hails from Penang said: “I’m a die-hard Liverpool FC fan so you can imagine how elated I was about winning this trip. I’ve never been to Anfield before so the trip was a blast! I can’t describe the atmosphere at the stadium and I was speechless from the moment I stepped foot in there.

“Watching the match live is a completely different experience. I think every die-hard Liverpool FC fan should experience a home game at Anfield.”

Puvaneswaran said: “Watching the match at Anfield was thrilling and the anticipation throughout the game was beyond what I’ve ever felt before.

“During the match, every Reds fan at the stadium was like a close-knit family cheering the players on,” Puvaneswaran added.

Speaking at the prize presentation ceremony, Standard Chartered Bank Malaysia country head (Consumer Banking) Tiew Siew Chuen said: “Football is the world’s favourite sport and Malaysia has her fair share with more than two million Liverpool FC fans joining hearts with over 130 million fans worldwide.

“We are leveraging on our sponsorship of Liverpool FC not only to bring our customers closer to their football heroes but also offer them more innovative products and services.
