LOCAL artist Loo Win has pledged to donate a portion from the sales of his sixth solo art exhibition to charity.

Loo, 65, said a part of the proceeds would go to a non-governmental organisation dedicated to providing assistance to patients with kidney problems.

“The charity group, Neesum Bhd, needs financial assistance to run its centre on Jalan Chung Ah Ming in Ipoh.

“The centre has a dialysis machine and it is quite costly to operate. They also subsidise these patients undergoing dialysis there,” he told MetroPerak.

Loo, who is also Perak Art Society treasurer and Contemporary Malaysian Water Colourists Association secretary, added that it was the second time he was donating his work to charity.

His latest exhibition “Enchanting Landscape of Perak” will be held at the Garden Villa at No 5, Jalan Raja Dr Nazrin Shah (formerly Jalan Gopeng), Ipoh, from Jan 14 to 19, 2012.

“Some 50 paintings on street scenes, landscape and fishing villages will be on display.

“These pieces are painted this year alone,” he said, adding that he hoped to promote awareness on the intricacies of water colour painting through his latest showcase.
