IPOH: In an about-turn, sacked People’s Progressive Party Youth chief Datuk T. Murugiah says he will seek the Registrar of Society’s help to return to the party.
Murugiah, who is also the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department, said he made the decision after receiving a letter from the ROS asking him to appeal on his sacking from the party last May.
“I received the letter last Friday through my lawyer and I will appeal to the ROS on Wednesday.
“The letter proves that I have a case to appeal,” he told reporters after chairing a meeting on complaints against a seaweed company here.
Murugiah was responding to questions about reports that he would be joining either a Sabah or Sarawak-based party.
“No, I will not join another party,” he stressed, adding that his 157,000 supporters also urged him to get back into PPP.
“I will not leave the party just because of an individual who is afraid of me,” he said in apparent reference to party chief Datuk M. Kayveas.
Murugiah was reported as saying early this month that he and his 157,000 supporters would be joining a multiracial party, which was a component of the Barisan Nasional and which had promised him the post of party deputy president.
