Citizenship approved but they are in a quandary

What say you on the issue below?

PETALING JAYA: Malee Sae Lee, 44, and Sri Kesuma Bubuk, 46, waited 11 years to become Malaysians.

Now that their applications have been approved, they are in a quandary as their husbands are required to be present for the oath-taking ceremony.

The problem for Thai citizen Malee and Indonesian Sri Kesuma is that they are separated from their husbands and have lost touch with them.

Malee separated from her husband Ng Beng Hock last year and has not heard from him ever since while Sri Kesuma separated from husband Hoh Ah Soong, 56, in 2005. The last time Sri Kesuma heard from Hoh was in 2007.

The two women filed their citizenship applications with the National Registration Department in 1998, and their applications were only approved this year.

MCA Public Complaints and Services bureau head Datuk Michael Chong has called on Ng and Hoh or those who know them to get in touch with the bureau so that Malee and Sri Kesuma could finally become Malaysian citizens.

He also advised Malaysian men with foreign wives to always be responsible for them, even if their marriage did not last.
